Makina Cafe ("Makina," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit makinacafenyc.com (the "Site"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Introduction

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you give us directly. When you submit a catering or event inquiry through our form, we collect:

  • Your name

  • Phone number
  • Approximate number of guests
  • Event type (corporate, private party, wedding, food truck booking, or other)

If you contact us by email at info@makinacafenyc.com, catering@makinacafenyc.com, or careers@makinacafenyc.com, we collect whatever information you choose to include in your message. If you apply for a job, this may include your resume and employment history.

We do not collect payment information through this Site. Reservations and any payments are handled by third-party services (see Section 4).

2.2 Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our Site and its service providers may automatically collect certain technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, and the pages you view. This information is used to operate and improve the Site.

2.3 Browser storage. We use your browser's session storage to remember whether you have dismissed our reservation pop-up, so we do not show it to you repeatedly during a single visit. This data stays in your browser and is cleared when you close it. We do not use it to identify you.

Third-party services embedded on our Site may set their own cookies or similar technologies. See Section 4.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your catering, event, or general inquiries
  • Prepare quotes and coordinate events with you
  • Communicate with you about your booking or request

  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

Our Site uses or links to the following third parties. Each has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your information, and we encourage you to review them.

  • Google Fonts — we load typefaces from Google's servers. Google may receive your IP address as a result.
  • Resy — our reservation link takes you to Resy's platform. Any booking you make there is governed by Resy's privacy policy, not ours.
  • Instagram, Facebook, and X (Twitter) — we link to our social media accounts and may embed an Instagram feed. These platforms may collect data about you.
  • Google Maps — location links open Google Maps.

We do not control these services and are not responsible for their privacy practices.

5. How We Share Information

We may share your information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate our business (such as email, scheduling, and catering coordination tools), only to the extent needed to perform their services for us.
  • Legal authorities, if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect our legal rights, safety, or the safety of others.
  • A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of our business assets.

6. Data Retention

We keep inquiry and event information for as long as needed to respond to you, fulfill your event, and maintain our business records, and thereafter as required by law or legitimate business purposes. Job application materials are retained in accordance with applicable employment law.

You may request deletion of your information (see Section 8).

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information you provide. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  • Request that we delete your information
  • Opt out of marketing communications
  • Ask us not to sell or share your personal information (note: we do not sell personal information)
